Ipsy Review November 2014: Girl Meets Glitter

11:13 PM

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription that sends 4-5 deluxe size samples or full size products and a makeup bag for $10 per month. Beauty products range anywhere from makeup, haircare, skincare, and fragrance. There are some months when I love what I receive and some months when none of the products excite me but I have never felt like I didn't get my $10 worth. I think this is a great subscription for beauty product lovers or for someone who wants to try new products without breaking the bank. Here's the link to get your own subscription to start receiving an Ipsy Glambag every month: http://www.ipsy.com/r/81ue?sid=ipsypoints&cid=general.

The theme for this month's Ipsy Glam bag was Girl Meets Glitter. Ipsy described the theme so perfectly that I'll just share it here: "Why wait for festive fetes and fancy galas to take things up a sparkle or two? Just add glitter, or a generous pinch of shimmer and shine, to elevate your everyday routine and keep you looking and feeling brilliant. That's why we packed this month's Glam Bag with everything you need to leave a little sparkle wherever YOU go. Get ready for your daily grind to "glitterly" dazzle and daze this November!"

Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder and mini fan brush: A setting powder is an absolute must-use in my basic makeup routine so I was excited to receive this product. It also came with a mini fan brush, but it honestly looks kind of useless because it's so thin and flimsy. I will probably use this as an under eye setting powder since the product is so tiny and I can only use a small brush with it.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Hairspray: I haven't used this product yet but I like the idea of a non-drying hairspray that claims to have flexible hold. I love argan oil products but this probably won't compare to my Moroccan Oil Luminous Hairspray. Here's the description from Ipsy since I don't have an opinion on it yet: "Get extra volume, shine and hold with this dual purpose hairspray; nourishing and styling in one! This argan oil, keratin and grape seed oil infused hairspray gives you strong and flexible hold plus deep nourishment, strengthening and conditioning as you style."

Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Eye Base in Submissive: This shade is a metallic taupe/bronze color with a hint of gold. The color pay off isn't that great but it's nice for a light wash of color. It still creases on me unless I use an eyeshadow primer. I like this product because it's easy to use on days that I want something on my eyelids but don't have time to blend out 4 different shades of eyeshadow.
Elizabeth Mott you're so FINE eyeliner in Glitterati: I was a little hesitant when I saw that the packaging was silvery and the name was Glitterati but it turned out to be a highly pigmented black eyeliner with a hint of silver shimmer. This is a quick-drying waterproof eyeliner that has a brush tip applicator and a very black formula.

J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint in Mad Splatter: The packaging of this reminds me of the OCC Lip Tars but it is glossier and runnier. This shade is a bright fuchsia with a blue iridescent undertone. This product should definitely be applied with a lip brush (it would've been perfect if Ipsy sent one!).

  1. Did your eyeliner flake off when you wore it!? I found that mine did. And the BAB eye base creased on me too.

    1. I haven't worn it on my eyes yet but it didn't budge when I swatched it on my hand. Did the glitter irritate your eyes at all? I'm kind of worried about that for me. It's a shame that the eye base didn't work well on us because it's a pretty color!
